Hi, thanks for the article. A very informative in itx content.I was just surprised by the idea of getting in touch with an institution. Its a seriously powerful strategy as universities gets a lot of hits and yet there are very lesser backlinking through them.

I am trying to ‘get into’ this techie world to promote my 4 books on Amazon, Kindle and B&N. I tweet mt web and book covers in turn. I also post on FB but that’s as much as I am able to do at my great age! 70+ !!!
I’d be glad of some help! I just don’t know how to BLOG. But I will try to coy and paste some good reviews… but where do I post them? Thanks for contacting me… I really needed some help today! I use the proceeds to help ill-treated dogs to find homes here in Cyprus. Also to get feral cats neutered… It’s a sad situation!

It is really a great challenge these days to get good quality backlinks. The solution that Google has proposed of creating an authority site is also not so easy. There is so much competition on the net! The old ways of article marketing, directory, submissions, etc. have died a death of overuse. Now we hope that people will find our online backup website by themselves and either "like" it or want to link to us.

Great suggestions! I’m going to give the .edu suggestion a try today for some of my clients!

While these are good ways to think out of the box for link building, they obviously won’t work for all scenarios.

#5 on the list, for example, might not work for some of the more ‘obscure niche’ clients. For example, I have one client that’s an auto restoration shop… not sure how I can start a fund raiser that is relevant to that industry!

Nice tips, Nell. I thought the one about creating a free web site or landing page for a local college organization was a good one and something I never thought of before. If you know web design or WordPress, you can set it up fairly easily, and create some nice, powerful backlinks in the meantime. Nice. Thanks again.
