Becoming an authority figure within your blogging niche is an attractive idea that appeals to most bloggers who are serious about creating a profession from their blog. This is largely because, as an expert people look to you for answers and believe that you can provide them with quality information. They trust you. And what blogger doesn’t want that? However it can be a long road going from novice blogger to expert blogger, which can deter some people from trying. Long as the road may be, though, it’s not impossible.
1. Write Often
The longer you blog about a specific topic, and blog about it well, the more people are going to regard you as someone that can be trusted to provide good information. You should post well-written, researched content consistently so that people begin to feel that they can trust you to always provide relevant, up-to-date information that is both accurate and compelling.
2. Immerse Yourself in the Community
Get to know other bloggers in your same niche market. By being ever-present in the community, which can be done by regularly leaving comments on the more popular blogs and actively participating in any social media surrounding them, you’ll gradually become a more recognized name. Once you have established a relationship with bigger blogs you can start working together to promote each other on your respective blogs.
3. Guest Post for Others
Guest posting for blogs that drive more traffic than yours does is a great way to direct that traffic back to your own site. Guest posting also gives you an opportunity to showcase your talents and knowledge, allowing people to learn more about you. You should always take advantage of opportunities to spread your name to your target audience. As your readership grows so will your authority in the niche.
4. Offer Something to Your Readers
E-books are a fantastic, inexpensive way to provide something useful to your readers, as is offering online courses or seminars. By providing something relevant and informative to your readers you open up the opportunity for them to share these products with people they know or their own blog readers, thus spreading your name.
5. Answer Questions for Your Readers
Take time to formulate informative posts that will answer questions your readers may be asking. Depending on your niche this could be how to design a custom header for a blog or how to cook the perfect casserole – it all depends what market you’re trying to appeal to. These types of posts do well because there will always be people out there asking a question that you can provide the answer to.
Becoming an expert in your niche of the blog world won’t happen overnight. But it will happen if you are diligent and committed to becoming one.
