Using Facebook to set up and notify people about your upcoming event can generate leads and increase sales.<br />
However, there are some details that are often overlooked which can prevent positive results.</p>
<p>To avoid skipping some important details when setting up an event on Facebook, here is what you need to do:</p>
<p><strong>Add the Events App</strong><br />
• At the top of your Facebook page, click ‘edit page.’<br />
• Click ‘update info.’<br />
• From the left sidebar, click ‘apps.’<br />
• Locate the ‘events’ app and click ‘edit settings.’<br />
• In the pop-up box, click ‘add’ next to the available tab, and then hit OK.<br />
• Event app will now appear with other apps on your Timeline.<br />
<strong><br />
Create an event</strong> — It is important to give as many details as possible when you create your event.</p>
<p><strong>Name the event</strong> — Give your event a catchy title that will make the invitees eager to sign up.</p>
<p><strong>Details</strong> — Give a good description of the event and what the attendees can expect. Include links for registering. Use ALL CAPS with your calls-to-action to help draw their attention.<br />
<strong><br />
Where</strong> — Be specific about the event location. If it is an online event, such as a webinar or online sale, tell them and give the link they will need. If it is an offline event, include the exact address so a map will be shown.</p>
<p><strong>When</strong> — Be sure to add the start and end dates and times for your event. If it is a multi-date event, let your invitees know. Make a note of your time zone as well.</p>
<p><strong>Image</strong> — Including an image with your event will help it to draw more attention. Have a large image for the event page itself and a smaller one for the event app thumbnail.</p>
<p><strong>Etc.</strong> — Make sure the box that says &#8220;Only admins can post to the event wall&#8221; is not checked. You want invitees to be able to post comments or questions on the event wall.</p>
<p><strong>Promote Your Event</strong><br />
Facebook does not allow you to invite all the fans on your page with a single click. This is to prevent you or anyone else from spreading mass spam attempts. You can, however, invite profile friends on the event page plus promote the event with Timeline posts and ads.</p>
<p>• Share the event on your Timeline. Include a strong call to action and a great image.<br />
• Use a third-party app to create a registration or sales page.<br />
• Use promoted posts to get more views. Make videos and post images with promoted posts to increase views.<br />
• Create a page post ad with the event by clicking ‘export event.’ Create the ad specifically for your target audience.<br />
• Encourage people to start talking about the event. When someone RSVPs, send him or her a quick thank you. If someone posts a question on the event page, respond as quickly as possible. People who join an event can suggest it to their own friends and fans.</p>

The truth is that you can do really well with these other ad networks if you play your cards right.</p>
<p><strong>StumbleUpon Ads</strong></p>
<p>StumbleUpon is a site for discovering interesting stuff and sharing it with friends. It&#8217;s a social bookmarking site similar to Technorati and Digg. First, you must create a profile, then algorithms present sites to you that it thinks you&#8217;ll like. It has a program called Paid Discovery where you can pay to have your site appear for certain demographics or interests. </p>
<p>Stumblers (as StumbleUpon users are called) prefer certain content, so some niches perform better than others. Before you get started placing ads, you should look at what content is popular (it&#8217;s all rated by users).</p>
<p>The landing page you send stumblers to has to be good because if it&#8217;s not or if it&#8217;s not relevant, it will receive a bad rating and it&#8217;ll actually hurt your site. </p>
<p>From my experience and that of a few other folks I know, StumbleUpon isn&#8217;t great for making sales. But it&#8217;s good for promoting a site, building a list, or gaining readers. The problem is that stumblers are casual web surfers and not really buyers. You get a low conversion rate and high bounce rate. It&#8217;s also good for making content go viral because users will share what they like.</p>
<p><strong>LinkedIn Direct Ads</strong></p>
<p>LinkedIn is the social network for professionals and it has its own ad network. Because LinkedIn is all about professional networking, its ad network is only good if you&#8217;re offering B2B products or services. The advantage of LinkedIn&#8217;s Direct Ads is that you can target by company name or job title. </p>
<p>But LinkedIn Direct Ads is tricky. First of all, it&#8217;s quite expensive. It&#8217;s not nearly as cheap as other ad networks. It also has a fairly clunky interface that&#8217;s not exactly user-friendly. For example, you have to download a CSV to use it and the payment system isn&#8217;t easy to use.</p>
<p><strong>Twitter&#8217;s Sponsored Tweets</strong></p>
<p>Twitter now offers an ad program called Sponsored Tweets or Promoted Tweets. You pay to have your tweet appear at the top of a user&#8217;s feed when they use certain hashtags. You can choose to either pay a flat fee or pay per click. </p>
<p>Right now, Sponsored Tweets isn&#8217;t a great program but, as Twitter monetizes the site more, it will probably be upgraded. Only major brands use it because it works best for things that have mass appeal. In other words, it&#8217;s not great for narrow, highly-specialized niches. </p>
<p>All of these programs can bring you leads or conversions, but it depends on many factors. My advice is to try them out, monitor carefully. They&#8217;re worth checking out.</p>

The banner ads typically include graphics and text which entice Internet users to click through the ad to your website and also include embedded code that provides you with feedback detailing which affiliates generated the website traffic. </p>
<p>This information is necessary because affiliates are typically not paid unless they achieve a desired result such as enticing Internet users to click through the banner ad or make a purchase. The affiliates are typically compensated either on a cost per click basis or a cost per sale basis. Cost per click means the affiliate receives a predetermined amount of money each time a user clicks on the ad. Cost per sale means the affiliate receives either a flat fee or a percentage of the sale for each sale generated by the affiliate. Affiliates may also be paid on a cost per lead basis which means they are compensated when a user performs a specific action such as registering with a website or filling out a survey.
